Bravo’s The People’s Couch

annoying, awful, Bravo, obviously scripted reality, reality recappers need to get a real job, shows with bad racial stereotypes, snarking is just another way of being uninteresting, stupid, stupid people that think others are stupid, The People's Couch, unfunny

…has got to be one of the laziest, dumbest, awful, and not the least bit entertaining pieces of dreck “reality” television programming I’ve seen. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, based on Bravo’s current line up, but I had hoped with the introduction of their first “scripted” show (Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, which I hear is actually quite good) and their past of featuring more artsy, talent-based and actually decent reality programming (the original Top Chef, Project Runway, Shear Genius, etc), plus the demotion of that awful Andy Cohan, that maybe the station was revamping themselves into something good again. And to be fair, there are a few “good” shows still left (or in rerun mode), like Tabatha Takes Over/Tabatha’s Salon Takeover, Kathy Griffin’s Life on the D List, Inside The Actor’s Studio, and Million Dollar Listing (though I do admit to having a soft spot for Vanderpump Rules and Euros of Hollywood). However it won’t be long before those shows jump-the-shark too, as every show on Bravo does once they try to placate the idiots on awful forums like TWOP (now PreviouslyTV) and StoopidHousewives.

Fun vocabulary time! “Snark,” “snarky,” and “snarking,” at least done to the standards of the regular posters on the sites above, are what viewers and recappers of these shows call it when they bitch/whine about a show or characters while fancying themselves (the person doing the “snarking”) as being especially witty. They aren’t, of course. In the slightest. Just intolerably annoying. So of course they LOVE shows like The People’s Couch.

So what is The People’s Couch? Well, unless you watch Bravo (which many don’t), you should consider yourself lucky that you haven’t been bombarded by Bravo’s non-stop advertising for this show. According to the official site, “The People’s Couch enters the living rooms of households and films real people watching and commenting on popular shows and news from the past week.” Already sounds rather pointless, doesn’t it? Bravo advertises this as a “reality” show since these people are supposed to be “real viewers” but it seems obvious to me that based on the “viewers” bad, awkward/stilted (and rather obvious) line reading that at least some are paid actors. And they think if they mug a lot or say something dryly that makes them hilarious. Instead it’s all rather painfully boring or cringe worthy. If I want to listen to a bunch of annoying, unoriginal idiots comment about shows, I’d go to one of the above forums.

But of course, where would we be with out the (in this case) sitting clichéd and racial stereotypes that Bravo so loves to portray on their shows? You have the flamboyant gay men that talk with really pitchy voices and use snappy gestures, the sassy grandma’s that curse (because they are S A S S Y), and the frizzy haired or weaved, gap toothed, 90’s slang using African American females. AND THEY ARE FEATURED HEAVILY IN THE ADVERTISEMENTS!

Ugh, I just can’t with Bravo sometimes. If they don’t watch out, the network will soon sink to the depths of WE or TLC.

Tragedy Unfolded: The Demise of Project Vaulderie

As some of you may already know, Project Vaulderie was tragically cancelled. There is a small chance that the leader of the project can work something out, but I haven’t much hope. As my sister was involved in the project, I won’t say much, other than it seems apparent to me that CCP Publishing would rather shoot themselves in the foot rather than keep the fans happy.Their greed will be their downfall, as this project would have made them money (no out of pocket expenses for them and you had to own the original game to play – win win) and helped revive a failing franchise. I can’t get over their hypocrisy and miserly ways, and frankly, I am done. And I think quite a few other (former) fans feel the same.

Here’s what we lost:

– multiplayer

– enhanced graphics

– smoother engine/gameplay

– more quests

– more customization features for your character

– expanded (and possibly some new) maps

– more havens and venues

– possibly new clans

– possibly different disciplines

*sigh*the game that could have been.

EDIT: Apparently, this issue caught the attention of a few online media outlets. A lot of fans are making the rounds showing their outrage and vocal support of the project. Here’s a few articles I came across:

ScrewAttack

PC Gamer

Polygon.com

Also, a big thank you to Team Camarilla International for their support! You guys rock!

Maybe some good will come out of this. At the very least I hope the team at Project Vaulderie make their own vampire game. Too much talent to waste!

Their postings on the good fight and the infamous “Cease and Desist” letter:

Goodnight, sweet Prince…
